I Predict Therefore I Am!

The predictive social mind, prior knowledge, and autism.

Dr Themis Karaminis is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Edge Hill University.

“This research project is interested in how people make decisions in their everyday lives – like how they decide what some noisy speech means, or whether they should press a buzzer or not during a game. It does so by examining how such decisions might depend on the information that is available to children. The project is particularly interested in how these decisions differ in autistic children compared to children who don’t have an autism diagnosis, and whether similar differences are present in adulthood.”

“These workshops have two aims. First, to familiarise children with scientific knowledge from psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Second, to provide children with the opportunity to be involved in research carried out in Edge Hill University.”
