- Support for Families+
- Updates from the Family Advisor+
I would like to thank those of you who joined us for the launch of our Parental training session and FAB! this week. Both online sessions went well and are the start of a blossoming online support programme for the families of Abbots Lea School.
The online session given by Mrs Tobin on our curriculum will be available online very soon.
The next session is being delivered by Tara Connolly our onsite Occupational Therapist who will be supporting with sensory input on 26/1/2022 at 10:30-11:30.
Additionally, a survey will be sent regarding FAB! and how to best allow parents and staff to access as many sessions and events available.
I look forward to being able to see you all soon.

- Holiday Activity Programme 2021+
The #HAF2021 holiday activity programme is a packed half term programme bursting with great activities and delicious meals every day.
Children and young people will be able to access hundreds of activities throughout the school holidays, including specific provision available for children with SEND or additional needs. The funding is targeted at children, aged 5-16, who receive benefits related free school meals and 15% of the places can be used for children who might be classed as vulnerable in some way such as:
· children assessed as being in need
· looked-after children
· children with an EHC plan (education, health and care)
· children assessed as otherwise vulnerable
· children living in areas of high deprivation
Children and young people will be able to access hundreds of activities throughout the winter break including specific provision available for children with SEND or additional needs, at no cost. There’s a great range of activities across the city including boxing, trampolining, football, music, dance, Christmas parties, cycling, cooking, climbing, films, bowling, arts and crafts, drama, trips out, yoga, circus skills and much more! Every day there will be a meal available for every child that attends.

This information has been sent to the chairs of the primary, secondary and special schools for them to forward on to their respective schools and eligible children.
In order to book a place parents/guardians/carers/responsible adult will need to contact their chosen organisation directly when they can discuss any additional needs support or dietary requirements.
- Christmas Support- The Salvation Army at Strawberry Fields+
With the festive season slowly starting its approach this can become a daunting time for some of us. Your teams at Abbot’s Lea School are happy to support where we can.
Last year, we teamed up with the Salvation Army at Strawberry Fields and organised support packages, gifts and food hampers for children and families who needed it. We want to offer the same support again to all of our families at Abbots Lea School who might be struggling or in need of help.
If you feel you and your family would benefit from this support, please fill in the below form and return it to our Family Advisor, Richard Manley via his email address below, post it to us or pass it into school.
If you require more information you can contact Richard Manley at the below details, however, you can also contact Louise Brown at email@example.com or give her a call on 0151 252 6130.
