The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) And Key Stage 1 work together in Abbot’s Lea school. In Key stage 1 we adopt the strong foundation of learning through play and having lots of cross curricular activities.

Due to the cross curricular nature of our subjects we have created a task bank of activities under each of the areas below which will include all subjects in fun and engaging projects and activities. We have included a helpful visual tab where you will find visuals to help you during activities.

We would suggest that if you are able to engage in work, you should try to access the ‘To Dos’ set by your class teacher and then select a few ideas from the areas listed. Remember we learn through play and anything and everything can be educational and a learning opportunity.

If you have limited time, we suggest you focus on simple maths, reading and phonics with your child. Each class teacher will continue to upload appropriate activities for your child within Purple Mash, Education City and Bug Club. The link to Phonics Play https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/  will take you to the Phonics Play site. This is a very effective resource. However, it is important that you know which “phase” your child is at in developing their phonics ability. Your child’s reading suggested stage can be emailed to you by their classroom teacher upon request.

If you are in a position to record your child enjoying any learning activities, we would love to see them. If you are able to, please email photos/videos to your child’s class teacher. We will be able to look at them and talk to your child about them via email. This will go some way to helping maintain positive teacher-student relationship during this time of social isolation.
