This week Malawi class have been very busy finalising the last of the preparations for the Christmas Party Employability Project.

We have ordered and received the food and snacks for the party, and have finished making the decorations and games.

We have created a plan for the day of the party, ensuring all the stalls have students staffing them and that we have all the equipment and materials that we need.

Malawi class have worked really hard over the past few weeks and we really hope that all the students enjoy the party as much as we have enjoyed planning it! In between our party planning we also made a ‘traditional roast dinner’, we worked together to decide on the ingredients that we needed, then discussed the different cooking methods that were required.

The dinner went down a treat, with the roasted chicken and the ‘home made’ gravy being the firm favourites!

Week 9+

Malawi have had a great first week back after half term! On their first day back, after a week off, KS5 started their functional skills exams. Everyone worked very hard throughout the week, well done!

As it is now November, Malawi have begun thinking about the big event, CHRISTMAS! After the success of our Halloween party, we have begun thinking about planning a Christmas party in employability lessons. We created a questionnaire that we have sent out to everyone to get feedback on our Halloween party, and we will use this feedback to plan the next party.

On Wednesday afternoon a few students from across KS5 went to visit the Mayor at the Town Hall! Students listened to a talk about the leadership of Liverpool, it all sounded very interesting!

PE this week was Boccia and we played it both outside and inside testing how different environments affected the game!  Good luck to Dan starting his internship next week, we will miss having him in class!

Welldone for a great first week back Malawi!

Week 8+

This week Malawi class, along with the rest of the KS5 department, visited the Liverpool Careers Fair. The fair was an opportunity for the students to meet local and national employers face to face, discuss the roles and vacancies that they offer, and to find out what qualifications we might need to apply for these roles.

We also completed our mock functional skills exams this week. Doing practice exams gives us the chance to see what it will be like when we do our real exams, it also gives the staff an idea of where we might need some help and support.

Malawi class also continued planning the Halloween party, we made the final arrangements such as ordering the food, as well as setting up the school hall. We hope everyone had as much fun at the party as we all had planning it! Well done Malawi for a fantastic first half term!

Have a lovely well-earned rest!

We then helped the younger students complete the event and recorded their scores. This gave us some work experience and an insight into what it is like working with children.

Have a lovely weekend.
