Week 23+

USA class had another full week of swimming.

Every pupil has tried their absolute best and had an amazing time! We also made peach and oats with yoghurt for Food Tech which everyone enjoyed making.

On Monday, we made our little people for the Positivitea party which was on Friday and we had the opportunity to play board games with our KS5 Buddy.

Week 22+

USA class have had a very busy week. During this week, USA class had the opportunity to have swimming lessons which they really enjoyed. They have been learning how to do a front and back stroke using floats or not using anything at all. They have been great! In the afternoons, they have taken part in an Art lesson where they did a pop art portrait of themselves and a science lesson where they all had to pretend to be palaeontologists and dig out fossils from home-made rocks. On Monday, they also made one pan egg and veg brunch for Food Tech which they really enjoyed especially learning how to use a knife and a board efficiently. Great work USA class, have a lovely weekend!

Week 21+

USA have had a great week!

We looked at mummification in English and learnt how to give instructions using full sentences, verbs and adverbs.

In Science, we all played the role of palaeontologists looking at different fossils and knowing where they come from. We also made pancakes for Food Tech and it was one of the most favourite recipes to make.

On Wednesday, we had the pleasure to watch the Lion Dancers for Chinese New Year and made lanterns in the afternoon too.

We had a very busy and very interesting week.

Week 20+

This week in class USA we have took part in lots of physical activities from weighing our favourite items, to determine weight to embalming tomatoes…

Class USA have really impressed me with how well they have all adapted to change in their environment just like how animals do in their own habitats, which we discussed during topics of interest.

Week 19+

This week USA class had a few absences so we wish them all a quick recovery! At school, USA have kept very busy and took part in lots of fun activities. In Science, we created our own crystals and are looking forward for them to be ready, since they need to dry. In Food Tech we made Chinese chicken noodle soup which we all tasted and really liked. For World Religion Day, we looked at different religious artefacts and learned about different religions. Brilliant week, well done USA class! Have a lovely weekend!

Week 17+

USA class had a great first week back after the Christmas holidays. We all shared our news and informed the rest of the class how much fun we had over the holidays.

This week we started learning about rocks in Science and tried to determine which rocks are natural and which man-made.

In PE, we tried gymnastics and we all found it a very fun and interesting way to exercise.

Last but not least, we learnt about Andy Warhol in Art and found out that he is autistic and he has been very successful with his pieces of Art which we had a look at and tried to create some of our own, too.

Week 15+

A super fun week for USA today!

We looked at how other European countries celebrate Christmas, we watched The Snowman animation and used clay to make our own snowmen! We also made our own snow using flour, oil and glitter.

USA also had many entrants to the talent show who all did USA proud.

Well done guys!!

Week 14+

Another fantastic week for USA.

Children enjoyed showcasing their talents in hopes of being selected for next week’s talent show. They also enjoyed creating their own story books, inspired by Pixar’s La Luna, using the computers.

USA found it very interesting finding out about how other European countries celebrate Christmas and were able to discuss similarities and differences to their own traditions.

Week 13+

Another great week for USA class.

They started the new English topic, Stories in Imaginary Worlds. To compliment this, pupils enjoyed listening to the story of Alice in Wonderland and using their senses to describe the setting. USA also started their new class book, The Enchanted Wood.

USA particularly enjoyed their French lesson and showed great enthusiasm when acting out different parts from a French story.

In Geography, USA have been learning about Europe and worked really hard to name and find European countries on a map.

Week 12+

Great week for USA! We started our new math topic, money. Pupils have worked really hard, some recognising coins and others answering tricking word problems! We also finished our English ‘newspaper’ topic by writing newspaper articles about the Great Fire of London onto the computer!

In Science, pupils enjoyed learning about habitats and designing their own animals! We also went out and explored our environment, looking for mini-beasts. This was lots of fun. We also started learning a Christmas song in music and finding the rhythm by clapping and dancing!

What an enjoyable week!

Week 11+

USA have had a great first week with the new teacher, Mrs Suku!

We have looked at newspaper reports of the Great Fire of London and put events in a chronological order. In Maths, we looked at directions and we also built stable structures as part on Our Greenhouse DT project. For Music, we played different instruments to the song ‘Hey, You’. We had lots of fun during our Music lesson. We have also been enjoying our morning Daily Mile and has helped us stay fit and happy.

Week 10+

USA class worked really hard this week. We looked at poems and specifically we read ‘Animal Fair’. We all really enjoyed it when we performed in smaller groups in front of the whole class and by doing this, we showed how to be good team members. In Maths, we looked at fractions focusing on halves for some groups and some others looked at 1 whole. We also celebrated World Science week

by executing lots of experiments in class. Our favourite one was making lava lamps using water, oil, food colouring, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar.  On Friday, it was Children In Need day and we could all come in our normal clothes. We enjoyed assembly and learnt all about the day in class. USA class had a not only very busy week, but a fun one too! Have a lovely weekend everyone!!

Week 9+

USA class have been very busy this week. For Food Tech, we have made delicious burgers and used different ingredients in the buns. We used lettuce, cheese, tomato ketchup and mustard. In English, we read the book ‘We are going on a lion hunt’ and learnt what onomatopoeia is. We completed worksheets on onomatopoeia and adjectives, too. In Maths, we looked at fractions and worked very hard on our activities. We learnt what a continent is and identified the difference among city, continent, planet and country.

Week 8+

Great week for USA class! We have taken part in many fun activities and have enjoyed ourselves. We talked about Zones of Regulations and emotions and we drew the emotions on faces. We completed our lesson about tornadoes by carrying out an experiment using two bottles, water and glitter. We really enjoyed it.

We also made gingerbread skeletons and some enjoyed eating them and some took them home. We had lots of fun and cannot wait to start our half term. Have a lovely half term break everyone! Enjoy!

Week 7+

USA class have had a great week.

During our English lesson, we looked at powerful verbs revisiting the story “Escape from Pompeii’ and we understood the importance of upgrading our sentences.

In Maths, we looked at time and some practised telling the time to the hour whereas others to 5 minutes.

We also learnt a lot about tsunamis this week and executed our own tsunami experiment using Lego houses and water.

For Food Technology. we made chicken stir fry which everyone enjoyed making.

USA class have had another week filled with fun and knowledge.

Week 6+

USA class had a very busy week.

They have all worked really hard and enjoyed their lessons. For Food Tech, we made tuna pasta which is one of our most favourite foods. We also read the book ‘Escape from Pompeii’ and answered some questions about it. We used a parachute and we pretended how each stage of a volcano eruption feels like.

We learnt a lot about earthquakes this week, too. We talked about the Mercalli Scale and how it is based on the level of damage an earthquake can cause. Everyone finds this subject very interesting.  For Music, we created our own music using notes on Chrome Music App and played some instruments too.

We had a great week full of exciting activities! Have a nice weekend USA class!

Week 5+

We’ve had a busy week in USA class.

For food technology this week we made a delicious lasagne. The class worked hard following the recipe and practising their cutting and cooking skills. As part of our topic lesson, we have been looking at the layers of the earth. The class made their own model of this out of playdoh and researched facts about the different layers. For English we started our new book, Escape to Pompeii. We have used adjectives to describe the setting of the story and spoken about how the characters are feeling in different parts. This week we also celebrated European Language Day with a French food tasting lesson.

Week 4+

USA class had a brilliant week!

This week we completed our project of volcano eruption. We used baking soda, red food colouring and lemon juice to our existing hand-made volcanoes and made our own volcano ‘eruptions’. We made a fact file about La Palma’s volcano eruption, too. We also learnt about place value, addition and subtraction in Maths. We are completing our English and Maths assessments and everyone has done so well. Well done! USA class team are very proud of everyone! Have a nice weekend!

Week 3+

We’ve had another busy week in USA class.

We started the week off by celebrating Roald Dahl day on Monday. We read the story of the Enormous Crocodile and completed an activity based around his ‘clever tricks’. For Maths this week we have been looking at place value and addition and subtraction problems. As part of our Topic we have also been creating our own Paper-mache volcanoes. The class are looking forward to painting them next week before we complete our eruption experiment! Keep up the hard work USA class!

Week 2+

USA class have had a great week back!

We learnt all about volcanoes and performed an experiment using citrus fruit, food colouring and baking soda. Once the baking soda was in contact with the citrus fruit, there was a reaction which we named ‘volcano eruption’. In English, we read ‘The Tortoise and the Hare’ in class and answered some questions to practise our comprehension skills. We also visited our school’s library and borrowed some of our favourite books. In Food Tech, we made cookies with chocolate and we found them delicious!
