World Book Day 2022

To celebrate World Book Day this year, students across the school participated in a range of fun activities to further promote reading for pleasure.

For each day of our celebrations, classes attended Scholastic Live sessions with famous authors, illustrators and poets. We sang along to Julia Donaldson’s Pocketful of Songs, learned some letter writing top-tips from Bethany Walker and brushed up on our doodling skills with Joe Whale, the Doodle boy.

As part of the celebrations, KS5 hosted a wonderful Mad Hatters Tea party and Animé / Marvel themed activities. There was delicious food, step-by-step guides on Animé drawing and a range of books from different genres. As part of these activities students were encouraged to ‘Drop everything and read’ over the course of the day and share their favourite books with each other.

To showcase our students creative sides we challenged them to create a ‘book box scene’ based on their favourite book. We had lots of amazing creations based on Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, The House That Jack Built and Stickman to name a few! We are so proud of how each student participated in our World Book Day activities and are already looking forward to next years celebrations!
