The Adapted National Curriculum (ANC) at Abbot’s Lea School is designed for students who benefit from a subject-based curriculum whilst requiring teaching, learning and assessment to be adapted to meet their individual needs.

We recognise that our students have diverse strengths, interests and learning profiles. As a result, learning is carefully adapted to ensure that all students can access an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum whilst making meaningful progress from their individual starting points.

Alongside academic achievement, we place significant emphasis on personal development, wellbeing, employability and preparation for adulthood, ensuring students are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need for life beyond school.
The curriculum is carefully sequenced so that knowledge and skills build over time. Students revisit and apply previous learning, helping them to remember more and make connections across different subjects and experiences.
